Some children have difficulty understanding, or comprehending either verbal or written language.  This may be due to problems with the child's knowledge of words (vocabulary), knowledge of sentence structures (grammar), or knowledge of how language is used in stories (narratives).

It also might be due to your child having difficulties hearing.  If your child is not following directions, it is always important to have his/her hearing checked by an audiologist.
